Dog Walking and Pet Sitting

Dog Walking

Friend to the Furry's dog walking services give your dog physical exercise and relief, AND also incorporate play and positive reinforcement dog training in order to give your dog mental exercise and keep them out of harm's way.

Daily Dog Walking

Friend to the Furry believes that everything possible should be done to make your dog's walk a truly special time of the day.  That is the reason why Friend to the Furry's dog walking services provide your dog with much more than your usual walk down the street or dog park runs by incorporating fun games, trick training, and even agility training/dog sports, in order to meet your dog's needs for both physical exercise and mental stimulation.

Our dog walkers are all advised and guided by Certified Professional Dog Trainer Jen Strum in proper dog walking skills and handling.  Our dog walking services are customized to your dog's needs. The goal of our dog walkers is to give your dog a fun walk while maintaining good behavior and any training your dog has had.  Our dog walkers
give your dog the full attention and love that he/she deserves.  All dog walks are conducted under the watchful eye of a knowledgeable and loving companion, who is certified in pet first aid, including CPR and other life saving measures to ensure your dog's safety.

In all services, dogs are kept happy and out of trouble exclusively through the use of the most humane methods and positive reinforcement training

Why Positive Reinforcement Training?
  1. When learning through positive reinforcement, dogs have fun while learning, which facilitates the learning process.

  2. Dogs trained using positive reinforcement methods become more confident from earning the things that they want as a result of their own actions.

  3. Using positive reinforcement training makes your dog think, and thus reduces excess energy and satisfies your dog's need for mental stimulation.

  4. Positive reinforcement training is rooted in learning theory and science.

  5. Positive reinforcement training creates a bond between the dog and trainer/human as well as positive associations with doing the behaviors that are desired of them

*A Note on Mental Stimulation

Mental exercise is a necessity, and most dogs do not get enough of it.  Many dogs were bred to do some kind of work, whether it be for hunters, fishermen, or farmers.  Once domesticated, they no longer are required to do this work, but they still require some kind of mental stimulation.  Otherwise, dogs get bored.  Bad habits often manifest out of this boredom, because the dogs are left to find ways to entertain themselves.  Friend to the Furry provides dogs with mental stimulation through incorporating training and social interaction into all services to better meet the needs of dogs.
Pet Sitting

When you go on vacation, the one thing you are really looking to do is relax, and having to leave your furry friend behind can cause worries.  When you leave them at home with a responsible, knowledgeable, loving, professional pet care provider, who is trained in pet CPR and other first aid by the Red Cross, you can feel free to enjoy your vacation.

In-home Pet Sitting

Friend to the Furry believes that the greatest priority of a pet sitter is the comfort of our furry friends.  This is the reason for providing in-home pet sitting with plenty of playtime and activities to meet all of your pet's needs and make your pet feel special.  Is there a better place for your pets to feel at home than in their own home?
